Cairns Convention Centre – bigger and better in 2023.

The Queensland Government has invested $176M in a major 10,000 square metre expansion and modernisation of the Centre, completed in 2023.

New features include an undercover forecourt and expanded lobby complete with tropical plantings; a 410-seat lecture space; three new meeting rooms; an exhibition zone for thirty display booths and a 500-seat banquet/multi-function rooftop area with sky terrace showcasing the Centre’s premium food offerings and prime location with breathtaking views over Trinity Inlet.

Adding to the complex’s reputation for presenting prestigious events, the expansion allows for the hosting of multiple functions, thereby attracting new events of greater size and complexity. With operable walls and an adaptable floorplan providing an ideal platform for concerts, art exhibitions and performances.

Local and Indigenous employment opportunities were supported through this significant project with hundreds of new jobs created during construction, and once operational in such industries as hospitality, logistics, security, maintenance and the arts.

Lendlease Building partnered with BSF, a Queensland-owned and operated business, to supply, fabricate and erect the roof steelwork.
