Queensland Train Manufacturing Program – bringing manufacturing back to Queensland

The Queensland Government is investing $9.5 billion in the QTMP, a project that will see a new 30,000 square metre manufacturing facility built on the site of an old pineapple farm in Torbanlea on the Fraser Coast, and rail maintenance and stabling yards at Ormeau on the northern Gold Coast.

The manufacturing hub will churn out 65 new 6-car passenger trains to support the transport needs of the State’s burgeoning population and facilitate the rollout of the Cross River Rail and Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail projects. The program is on track to be completed in time for the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games and will support approximately 800 construction and manufacturing jobs.

BSF is John Holland’s steel subcontractor of choice and will fabricate and erect over 2,400 tonnes of structural steelwork for the manufacturing facility, administration block, gatehouse and pumphouse.
