Thiess Dempsey House

Childhood Cancer Support (CCS) and Thiess Queensland recently united to expand CCS’s accommodation facilities at Herston, Brisbane.

The Thiess Dempsey House Project involved the refurbishment of an existing 1920s cottage and the construction of three new units directly behind it, to accommodate a total of 12 families.  The accommodation is designed to be a functional home away from home for regional families while their children undergo cancer treatment in Brisbane, sometimes for up to 12 months.

BSF was proud to lend its expertise to this important project, donating labour and materials valued at more than $80,000.

Before After

Over 60 suppliers, subcontractors, consultants and advisors partnered for the Project, which was completed mid-August 2009.

An incredible $750,000.00 was saved enabling CCS to continue supporting regional families.

Youngcare

Youngcare, a charity organisation helping young Australians with high-care needs, outgrew their office in West End.  So, the CFMEU & Hutchinson Builders partnered to renovate a 1920s Queenslander in Spring Hill – providing 250 square metres of office space and an official base for the organisation.

The Youngcare Apartments Gold Coast have set new and innovative standards in residential care for young people.

Completed in 2011, the Gold Coast Apartments are the second accommodation project for Youngcare, supporting the needs of young people requiring relevant and dignified round-the-clock care.

The Apartments provide a positive environment that encourages family and friends to visit on a regular basis, to share a meal or watch a movie together.

The development consists of seven one-bedroom apartments, an overnight guest room,a multi-purpose unit, gym and therapy room for ongoing rehabilitation and therapy.

The team at BSF were happy to offer their support on these worthy projects, donating all labour and materials.
